Message You're hindering the performance of the engine to some extent. It's looking at it as hindering one aspect to enhance another, and the VG tends to be prejudiced against this idea. The VG motor is quite versatile in it's abilities to make power; a single turbo could work as well as various other methods, such as a sequential setup. However, the engineering for the VG30 was with the two turbos (as it is in stock form), essentially having two 3-cylinder motors working together. Whenever you hinder this team from working together, bad news bears.

Thus, enhancing airflow, or the bigger=better method, has made the most power on the VG30 motor. Many shops have experimented with this motor, and almost every one I've seen has abandoned the idea they may make an ingenious engineering discovery.

Think about it: a team of dozens to hundreds of the most elite engineers spent years designing this motor. Not saying you're unintelligent at all, but it seems like a single person or small group would have a hard time trumping that. Just mho.

Cheers,
JBrobst
